Rhythm

Keeping the same stroke and changing only its speed and its pauses

11 min read

A repeated gesture is also a cadence. Rhythm is the gap between two passes, how even that gap is, and whether a rest sits in it. It is its own setting: you adjust it while the spot, the pressure and the motion stay put. The same rubbing, tapping or stroke does not land the same way when it is even, spaced, chopped or unbroken. A direct result: a caress you already know can yield effects you have not tried yet. Varying the rhythm is useful for another reason too. The body settles into whatever stays the same. Arousal drops when one sensation returns unchanged, and it rises again as soon as something new shows up.
