Plate 10 of 10
Saying yes, saying stop
Consent is checked along the way, with short questions and agreed words
Consent is not a box ticked at the bedroom door. It is an exchange that begins before the first touch and continues until the last, with or without words. This plate speaks to both sides at once: the person who asks and the person who answers, often the same person a few minutes apart.
A yes that counts brings together several conditions at once. Sexual health educators sum them up in a few words, and more and more laws draw on them.
Given without pressure, without blackmail, without fear of what will happen if you refuse. A yes obtained by wearing someone down is not a yes.
