Plate 2 of 12

The veil

Adjusting intensity by keeping skin or fabric between the hand and the glans

12 min read

The clitoris is one of the most innervated areas of the body. Its main nerve contains, on average, 10 281 nerve fibers. The glans also carries very fine endings and a protein, PIEZO2, which reacts to mechanical pressure. So it has many sensors, and they react strongly. That is why direct contact is not always the right way to begin. Often the pleasure comes less from touching the visible part than from moving the tissues that surround it. Layering starts from there. Pressure placed on a layer of skin or of fabric travels through to what lies under it, but softened. The hood already does this job: it protects the glans from rubbing and from irritation.
