Plate 10 of 12

Variations: renewal

A short pause, a different touch: restoring the sharpness of a fading stroke

11 min read

In a hot bath, the heat grips the whole body during the first seconds. A few minutes later, the water has not cooled, yet you barely feel it. At the table it is the same: the first bite of a dish you like often has a vividness the later ones lack. The dish has not changed: what changed is how you perceive it.

Many describe a dip if the stimulation doesn’t vary for a very long time. It is normal, and a short pause often lets the sensation return.
