Plate 8 of 10
Condoms and STI testing
Barriers, STI tests and vaccines: what protects against what, and when
Protecting yourself does not compete with pleasure: it is what lets you give in to it without second thoughts. This plate reviews the tools available, from barriers to testing, for people on their own as well as for couples.
Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) pass from one person to another during vaginal, anal or oral sex. Some travel in body fluids: semen, vaginal secretions, blood. Others pass through simple contact with infected skin or mucous membrane.
The point that changes everything: most of them cause no symptoms. You can carry one, and pass it on, while feeling fine.
